Force or Power – Pluto

Powerful language utilised transmits optimism.

By Alison Maciver

The greatest power astrology has is in our learning who we are.

During my introduction to astrology I learned about Pluto and its effect ‘for better or worse’ on our lives. Now I would be careful to say ‘for worse or better’ if using the same words. Pluto triggers transformations that are extreme, and all transformations are extreme. These can happen simply with a change of the words we use.

As a trainer and counsellor I was confused when students and clients did exactly the opposite of what I thought I had suggested. These people had handed over their power to me for the moment when they listened to what I was saying, especially about them and their astrology chart. I had a lot to learn.

Nearly two decades ago I was presented with the concept that the mind tends to ignore the negative in a statement, the paradoxical injunction. I consciously changed my training and counselling methods in the light of this. As I made changes I researched and tested whether it was simply that our minds concentrate on what is last said, being ‘recency’.

In our usage of language, how we try get the message across, we find common habit patterns in our speech. If the mind somehow tends to concentrate on what is said last, how then would these statements be received and absorbed by the recipient?

This is not a good time to sign contracts.

I don’t care what people think.

I don’t want to upset you …

As we make the changes closer and closer to our emotional ties and close relationships we are faced with the ingrained nature of communication patterns. ‘How can I change the way I feel?’ Whether we dwell on a feeling is our choice, and choice we do have. Our thinking has bearing on our feelings. By changing the words we use we can change our thought patterns which are reflected in our speech and create our feelings.

Where there is a problem, concentrating on it makes it worse. By activating another energy, constructive change happens. When we concentrate on trying to change our weaknesses we multiply them. To look a few degrees away to another emphasis strengthens another strand. When we concentrate on what are already our strengths and talents, we multiply them. We all have Pluto energies active somewhere in our lives that provide us with a magnificent power within. Self talk has the power to transform whichever way it is directed.

I haven’t got time.                           I have plenty of time.

I’m so stressed                                 I go with the flow.

I am blessed with being born at a time when the Sun was in Scorpio and the ruler, Pluto, was in mutual reception, being that Pluto, the co-ruler of Scorpio was in the sign Leo, being the natural ruler of the Sun. The energies of Pluto, an example of which is Sound Therapy, there is the potential to heal and transform. The other ruler of Scorpio is Mars, which for me is in Sagittarius. The passion that comes from the knowledge I acquire I share with the world. There was a time when ‘force’ came into and the quiet power of Pluto has continued, with the occasional volcanic clean out, to create a change to communication patterns.
The key words of force and power for Pluto’s effect are used in the following example in first and last order here for effect. The flow on effect of the last words are the ones that are held in the mind.
Force always creates counter-force and its effect is limited by definition.

Force is a movement, power is a skill.

Force is incomplete and therefore has to be fed energy constantly, while power is total and complete in itself.

Force constantly consumes while power energizes, supplies and supports.

Force takes away life and energy, while power gives life and energy.

Force is associated with judgement, power is associated with compassion.
Coming to an understanding of the use of power is the continuing reward of anyone with strong Scorpio/Pluto energies in their life. The power that the conscious use of language has and the effect of the order in which we use our words continues to excite me as I see the lives this puts on track, the health that is gained, the joy in people’s lives. We aim our listeners in the direction our words are headed and using the order of our words so that our clients really do have choice is our continuing responsibility. People consult astrology and astrologers when they have doubts. If these doubts continue their path will be extremely predictable in terms of the old text books. With surety the opportunities can be taken at the crest of the wave and huge possibilities abound. That is the door that we as astrologers aim to open for our clients and ourselves.

For many years Alison found that she talked about ‘giving up’ astrology, always at the same time of year. It coincided with the transiting Sun crossing her MC and her interest always regenerated as it crossed her natal Uranus a few days later. Now she accepts it as a holiday. She has experienced Astrology around the world, attending and running workshops as well as participating in forums with others who speak the language of Astrology. Presently in Auckland, she is writing a book called, ‘Come prepared to laugh at yourself.’

  1. Unquestionably believe that which you said. Your favorite reason seemed to be on the net the easiest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get irked while people consider worries that they just do not know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the whole thing without having side-effects , people could take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks

  2. You need to get upset! Simply letting the quota happen isn’t acceptable. This will help you stay above the curve.
